Is Pepperstone FCA regulated? Pepperstone’s UK site says Pepperstone Limited, company 08965105, is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under Firm Registration Number 684312, and Companies House lists that company as active. The FS Register is the record that settles it. This desk could not read it; search 684312 there yourself.

This is an evergreen explainer. The records below were read on 18 October 2026, and the two figures in it that a firm or scheme can change are dated as such.

Is Pepperstone FCA regulated? What the records say

Read 18 October 2026. The Register itself was not read for this post, so nothing here is the FCA confirming a permission.

RecordWhat it says
Pepperstone UK homepage footerCompany Number 08965105; FCA Firm Registration Number 684312; 73.6% of retail accounts lose money on spread bets and CFDs
Companies House, 08965105PEPPERSTONE LIMITED; active; incorporated 28 March 2014; 4th Floor, 27 Old Jewry, London EC2R 8DQ; accounts made up to 30 June 2025
Pepperstone EU site footerPepperstone EU Limited, Cyprus company ΗΕ 398429; CySEC Licence Number 388/20; 74.1% retail loss figure

The Companies House address matches the registered office Pepperstone’s UK pages print. A matching address is consistent; it is not authorisation, and the FCA number is the thing to check.

Which Pepperstone company does a UK client deal with?

Pepperstone is a group, and the help page that ranks near the top for this question belongs to its Cyprus company. Its footer names Pepperstone EU Limited and a licence from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. A CySEC licence is a fact about Cyprus. It says nothing, either way, about permission to deal with UK retail clients.

The UK site names a different company, Pepperstone Limited, registered in England and Wales. Which of the two a client contracts with is set by the account terms accepted on opening, not by the branding. Read the company name in those terms and match it to the Register entry for 684312. If they differ, the UK number is not the one protecting you.

The FCA warning about PepperStone VIP

On 4 March 2025 the FCA published a warning headed PepperStone VIP / EMC Capitals and shows it as last updated the same day. The regulator says the firm “is not authorised by us and may be targeting people in the UK”. It lists addresses at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, and 11 Hanover Square, Westminster, and three websites: pepperstone.life, pepperstone.vip and emc-capitals.com.

Two things about it are worth being exact on. It is an unauthorised-firm warning, not a clone warning: the page does not name Pepperstone Limited, or any genuine firm, as the one being copied, and this desk draws no connection beyond the resemblance of the names. And the FCA spells out the consequence: deal with the warned firm and there is no Financial Ombudsman Service complaint route and no FSCS protection. Of the four ranking pages read for this query, none mentions the warning in the part we could open.

£85,000 or £120,000? The FSCS figure

Two of the explainers that rank for this query disagree, one quoting £85,000 and one £120,000 per person, per firm. FSCS’s own investments page settles it. For a firm that failed after 1 April 2019, investment compensation is up to £85,000 per eligible person, per firm. The £120,000 figure on FSCS’s site is its deposit protection limit, which rose to that sum from December 2025.

The limit is also conditional. FSCS says the FCA or PRA must have authorised the provider and regulated the service and product it provided. Whether a claim arising from CFDs or spread bets would qualify depends on the claimant’s eligibility and the type of claim. Nothing read here says what a Pepperstone client would receive.

How to check Pepperstone yourself

Search 684312 on the FS Register and read the firm name, status and the web addresses it lists. Compare those addresses with the one in your browser. A domain that resembles the brand but is not on the Register entry deserves the Warning List search before any money moves. The same method ran through this desk’s FxPro check and IC Markets check.

Pepperstone FCA questions answered

Is Pepperstone regulated in the UK?

Pepperstone’s UK site says Pepperstone Limited, company 08965105, is authorised and regulated by the FCA under registration number 684312. That is the firm’s own statement. The FS Register could not be read here, so search 684312 on it and confirm the name and web addresses match the site you are using.

Is Pepperstone safe?

Nothing read here certifies safety. Pepperstone’s UK site states that 73.6% of retail investor accounts lose money on its spread bets and CFDs, and the FCA has warned about an unauthorised firm calling itself PepperStone VIP. Authorisation is a starting point, not a guarantee; check the Register before anything else.

Is Pepperstone covered by FSCS?

FSCS says investment protection is up to £85,000 per eligible person, per firm, where the firm failed after 1 April 2019, and only where the FCA or PRA authorised the provider and regulated the service and product. Whether a particular CFD or spread-bet claim would qualify depends on eligibility and claim type, which was not read here.

What is Pepperstone’s FCA number?

The footer of Pepperstone’s UK homepage gives Financial Conduct Authority Firm Registration Number 684312, beside Company Number 08965105. Pepperstone EU Limited, the Cyprus company, quotes a CySEC licence, 388/20, instead. Only the first is a UK number, and only the FS Register confirms what it currently permits.

Spread bets and CFDs carry a high risk of losing money; this is not advice. Check the Register, not the footer.
